There is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and credible registered practitioner to join our senior clinical leadership team as the Deputy Divisional Nurse Director for Surgery. The position will work daily with the Divisional Nurse Director and be an integral part of the senior management divisional triumvirate to help influence strategic direction and vision.

The role will require a proven record of senior leadership experience, working with the wider multidisciplinary team and other registrants. You will be required to supervise, mentor, and develop departmental leaders, promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional development. Using compassionate and inclusive leadership skills you will be expected to be promote high standards of clinical care.  Governance and risk management is essential to patient safety, therefore you will need a good working knowledge to be able to support and to advise the team using PSIRF principles.

 

Communication skills are essential, along with self awareness and emotional intelligence, to work with a wide range of individuals and be able to connect with a division of over 4000 staff. You will be instrumental in promoting the nursing agenda both divisionally and at Trust level by supporting the Divisional Nurse Director and deputising in their absence. You will be required to deliver nursing objectives that help transform patient pathways and improve patient experience and contribute to the nursing voice.

As per job description and personal specification

  • Support and deputise when required for the Divisional Nurse Director (DND) in day to 
    day activity, to provide a high level of professional, operational and practice 
    improvement leadership across the Division and wider Trust 
    • Assist the DND in operational accountability for the Divisions nursing workforce as 
    well as setting and delivering strategic direction for the Divisional Nursing Teams. 
    They will support by providing effective visible leadership, contributing towards the 
    achievement of the financial forecast and delivery of contracted activity. This will be in 
    line with local, Trust wide and national policies, procedures, values and behaviours
    • Be a highly experienced and credible senior Registered Nurse, and will support the 
    DND to drive excellent professional standards, leading Practice Improvements to 
    deliver true “Compassion and Dignity” in care
    • Provide professional nursing expertise and help in advising on operational 
    management issues regarding safety, quality and governance for the Business Units, 
    Division and across the Trust
    • Contribute to the corporate nursing resource and assist the DND in holding a portfolio 
    of responsibility to be managed Trust wide reporting to the Executive Chief Nurse
