Are you a motivated, dynamic and enthusiastic clinical nurse specialist?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an aspiring Nurse Hysteroscopist to join our Gynaecology team. This is a newly funded post within our gynae services and we are looking to recruit an experience nurse into our friendly, expanding and evolving  hysteroscopy team.  We are looking for someone who can develop and integrate this role into our fantastic services offered within Gynae. 

What are we looking for?

We are looking to recruit a qualified nurse that is aspiring to become a nurse hysteroscopist. They should have a basic knowledge of these procedures and be working towards completion of the course. The ideal candidate will be a qualified nurse with NMC registration and be an aspiring accredited Hysteroscopist with BSGE/RCOG. 

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will be an aspiring nurse practitioner and will be responsible for the management of a defined caseload (patients/service-users) under supervision and will provide highly specialist nursing support, advice, education and/or care to that specific group under supervision of the Lead Nurse Hysteroscopist. They will support the lead nurse hysteroscopist with the continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care, including setting of standards of care, and support in establishing evidence-based practice within  hysteroscopy.

The trainee Nurse Hysteroscopist will assess, diagnose, and overall manage (under supervision) the care of women that referred to the hysteroscopy clinic in accordance with National, Regional and local hysteroscopy protocols. This involves a key responsibility to support audit the overall performance of the service against National guidelines (BSGE, NICE Jan 2007, SIGN 2002 and RCOG 2008).

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree or equivalent level of education or experience
  • Appropriate NMC Registration (RGN/RM/RN Child/RSCN)
  • Willingness to undertake relevant courses in Nurse Hysteroscopy
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of further study/knowledge at Masters level or equivalent in a health-related subject
  • Leadership or management development qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant post registration experience working in a relevant clinical specialty
  • Good knowledge of female pelvic anatomy and gynaecology conditions
  • Experience of teaching or holds a teaching/mentorship qualification
