We currently have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated cardiac device physiologist/scientist to join our dedicated and friendly team at  the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.

Ideally we are looking for Candidates with BHRS or IBHRE accreditation and a minimum of three years post BSc ( or equivalent)  qualification experience.

Consideration would be given to Band 6 Clinical Physiologists who have a range of clinical experience in cardiology and a proven track record specialising in invasive cardiology.  Applicants must be eager to learn and would be expected to sit BHRS within the next 12 - 18months .

Pay scale will be adjusted to reflect skills and experience e.g  band 6 whilst training moving to band 7 once training is completed.

As a local specialist provider we implant a range of complex implantable devices including ILRs, pacemakers, ICDs, SICDs, CRTs and conduction system pacing .

We perform a wide range of angiography procedures including left and right heart catheterisation , PCI, IVUS, OCT and rotablation as well as being a busy 24 hour primary PCI centre: an on call commitment is a key role of this position.

You will be responsible for assisting in the day to day running of the service and perform the wide range of invasive investigations.

To provide a highly specialist, clinical technical service in the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) sections of the department and be a lead specialist in these areas supporting the catheter lab and devices clinic.

 To assist in the development of the Cardiac Rhythm Management Service. 

Rotate into the role of device lead; responding to patient/clinician queries, actioning urgent remote alerts and discussing complex cases in MDTs. 

The department runs a 24/7 primary PCI service so participation on the on call rota is a key requirement of this role.  

Provide specialist training and supervision of less experienced staff in own area of work 

We are a large department working across a number of physiological science disciplines including Cardiology, Respiratory & Sleep, Gastric and Vascular Ultrasound. Ensure effective/timely two-way communication takes place between all Cardiology sections of the department, maintaining close liaison between all sites of the department and wider multi-disciplinary teams. 

The post will be based within the Cardiac Catheter Suite / Clinical Measurement Department at the Royal Derby Hospital, however, some rotation to the Catheter Suite, Queens Hospital Burton, may occasionally also be required. 

The core hours of department are 8am - 6pm plus out of hours on call services (PPCI )

Future requirement to participate in a 6/7 day service.
