Job overview

Are you an experienced Midwife sonographer looking for an exciting opportunity to join the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust providing maternity care to women and their families from the local population. This is an ideal opportunity to support the area with your expert clinical knowledge.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Midwife Sonographer to join our midwife sonographer team within Antenatal Services at the Royal Derby Hospital site. 

Main duties of the job

As a midwife sonographer within for Antenatal Services you will take overall responsibility and accountability in ensuring women, babies and families receive safe, clinically effective, women centred care across the whole maternity care pathway.

You will lead by example, offer expert midwifery clinical advice, operationally support and manage teams and services ensuring the delivery of high quality, effective and compassionate midwifery care.

You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver care to women and babies within acute or community clinical environments whose needs are complex.

You will work flexibly across the service in supporting the delivery of midwifery care.  As a midwife sonographer you will provide expert clinical and professional midwifery leadership and are accountable for the women, babies, and public. This will be in line with local, Trust wide and national policies, procedures, values and behaviours.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • First class degree or equivalent
  • NMC registration & revalidation requirements
  • UK CASE accredited BSc hon or equivalent Ultrasound qualification
  • EvidencPending completion - UK CASE accredited PG Cert/BSc/MSc in Ultrasound-general & Obs/Gynae of short courses
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrable post registration practice to broaden knowledge and experience

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of communication within a multidisciplinary team
  • Evidence of empathy and understanding to patients/carers
  • Evidence of Basic keyboard/IT skills
  • Evidence of manipulation of U/S equipment and patients to achieve best results

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of ability to assess patients condition to achieve optimum examination results
  • Evidence of ability to interpret clinical information to ensure correct technique
  • Experience of mentoring, supporting, coaching and developing staff
  • Demonstrable Ultrasound scanning experience within a Hospital setting
