Are you an experienced qualified pharmacy technician who is looking for a new challenge?

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Pharmacy Homecare Team within the University Hospitals of Derby & Burton (UHDB) Pharmacy High Cost Drugs & Commissioning Team.

The successful candidate will need to have exceptional communication skills, to be conscientious, reliable, well organised, good numeracy and literacy skills are essential and the individual should be able to prioritise their own workload effectively. Experience in homecare medicines services may be beneficial but is not essential. The post allows for self-development and encourages increased autonomy and responsibility.

Main duties of the job

The candidate will lead, manage and develop the pharmacy operational technical service related to medicines homecare at UHDB. Some of the main duties of the role include:

· To provide technical support to the Pharmacy High Cost Drugs & Commissioning Team and other relevant Pharmacy support teams

· To help ensure that UHDB medicines homecare services are of a consistently high standard by regular liaison with UHDB clinical teams, and representatives of homecare companies, including developing new opportunities for homecare services

Training and experience

Essential criteria
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Society evidence of ongoing CPD
  • Extensive experience of checking and Dispensing of Medicines and Prescriptions

Organisational Skills

Essential criteria
  • Able to work under pressure, organise own work and meet deadlines
  • Able to demonstrate that they can work on their own initiative but know limitations of own authority and knowledge
  • Able to self motivate and plan own workload

Communication

Essential criteria
  • Able to communicate clearly verbally and electronically with the Pharmacy team and service users
  • Demonstrate that they are approachable and a team player
  • Effective computer skills and IT knowledge, including spreadsheets
  • Able to manage conflict

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Computer Literate with Functional Knowledge Of Pharmacy Computer and EPMA Systems
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in High Cost Drugs or Home care Services
