Job overview

Are you seeking a change? Would you like to gain experience from supporting a Pharmacy in  and out of hours service? If you would like to develop your confidence and gain new skills to  help further your career then this could be the job for you! 

We are looking for a hardworking and enthusiastic individual who can demonstrate excellent  organisational and communication skills to become part of our established shift working  Pharmacy Technician Team. 

You will join our pharmacy shift rota with working hours ranging from an 9:00 am to 22:00  incorporating bank holidays and weekend working. Attracts unsocial hours payments in  accordance with NHS Terms and Conditions. This is a full time posts however the hours are flexible.

Main duties of the job

You will be offered a variety of experience and training in the dispensary, which will include: 

  • Dispensary – Working and supporting the dispensary workload in hours and out of  hours, providing a service for the hospital inpatients and discharge prescriptions. 

You must hold current UK professional registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC  and also have demonstrable Pharmacy experience.

Experienced applicants from a community  Pharmacy setting are welcome to apply. Students who are due to register by February 2025 are also welcome to apply.

Person specification

Training and experience.

Essential criteria
  • NVQ level 3, registered pharmacy technician, evidence of CPD.
  • Demonstrable post qualification experience
Desirable criteria
  • Current knowledge of Aseptic manufacture
  • Experience of working in a hospital pharmacy

Organisational Skills

Essential criteria
  • Able to work under pressure, organise own work and meet deadlines
  • Able to demonstrate that they can work on their own initiative but know limitations of own authority and knowledge

Communication

Essential criteria
  • Able to communicate clearly verbally and electronically with the Pharmacy team and service users
  • Demonstrate that they are approachable and a team player

Physical Skills and Effort

Essential criteria
  • Technical skills required for working in laminar flow cabinets, and manufacturing aseptic products.
  • Being able to undertake duties involving frequent standing, bending, streching and lifting. Occasionally requiring to lift heavy boxes.
  • To able to concentrate for prolonged periods of time with frequent interruptions from other staff and patients.
