Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Dosimetrist to join our team in Radiotherapy Physics at Derby.  

You will be expected to undertake advanced and routine computerised radiotherapy treatment planning for external beam and brachytherapy treatments.

Additionally you will be expected to provide a leading role in the development of advanced and routine treatment planning techniques at the direction of the Head of Treatment Planning.  

You will also be expected to participate in patient facing mould room activities.

Main duties of the job

As a lead dosimetrist you will be required to work closely and collaboratively with Clinical Oncologists, Therapeutic Radiographers and Senior Managers to ensure a high quality Radiotherapy Physics service is maintained and developed. 

Routine clinical work includes provision of a comprehensive radiotherapy treatment planning and checking service, including VMAT and SABR and brachytherapy. The remit of the department also covers development of existing techniques, implementation of new procedures and the training of clinical staff.

 You will also be required to assist and/or lead on a full range of routine Mould Room activities on a regular basis.

 The successful candidate will be responsible to the Head of Treatment planning, and Head of Radiotherapy Physics.

Education, Training & Qualification

Essential criteria
  • Registered Clinical Technologist/Dosimetrist
  • BSc Clinical Technology, or equivalent
  • Significant experience in RT planning
  • Mould room experience
Desirable criteria
  • Post graduate qualifications
  • Research
  • Member of the IPEM

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience of SABR planning
  • Ability to work alone in Mould Room
  • Dosimetry experience
