Junior Project Manager - Ambulance Radio Programme

Job overview

The Ambulance Radio Programme are looking to recruit a Junior Project Manager to support the implementation of several programmes across the UK

The Ambulance Radio Programme delivers radio based mobile communications solutions to all English Ambulance Trusts.

The services are delivered through 2 programmes entitled the Mobile Data Vehicle Solutions programme (MDVS) and the Control Room Solutions programme (CRS).  Solutions include:

  • Voice and data communications
  • Fixed, vehicle mounted and hand-held radio terminals
  • Control Room Solutions
  • Mobile data solutions
  • The integration of all the elements above into an end-to-end managed service

These services are delivered by contracted business partners.

ARP is now working with a National cross-Government programme entitled the Emergency Services Mobile Communications Programme (ESMCP) which will deliver the future Emergency Services Network.

Once the solutions are transitioned into service, they will become business as usual (BAU) for ARP to manage.

This role will require an understanding of the two programme and ARP’s BAU processes.

A Basic DBS check will be required for the role. A fee will be incurred for this on appointment of role.

There is a Dog Friendly Policy in place on the Barnsley site, therefore please be aware dogs may be present in or around the office.

 

Main duties of the job

To provide high quality comprehensive administrative and project, programme and portfolio management (P3M) support to the Programme Management Office (PMO) and the wider ARP. The post holder will have responsibility for managing, updating and maintaining project and implementation processes and providing a high standard of comprehensive support.

There is an expectation that you will actively assist and provide support to the ARP Senior Leadership Team, PMO, CRS and MDVS programmes, liaising directly with the PMO Head and project managers and Implementation teams to provide a timely, efficient and effective service.

You will also be supporting a wide range of project, implementation and delivery tasks, often at NHS Ambulance Trust sites across the UK.  This will include taking responsibility for scheduling tasks between Trusts, ARP and suppliers, and management and dissemination of reporting information on behalf of the PMO Head and other senior leaders within ARP.

The post holder will be directly involved with the setting up and co-ordination of meetings, including the scheduling, co-ordination and distribution of papers, and accurate and timely minute taking.

You will be will be a valuable member of the PMO team.  This role will be one of a pool of resources supporting the national roll out of ARP programmes.

The Ambulance Radio Programme (ARP) is an enduring organisation directly appointed by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) to provide and upgrade emergency communications for UK ambulance services.

ARP have a large team of over eighty staff consisting of commercial, finance, project, implementation, technical, user assurance and service colleagues. They are based all over the country to support the successful delivery and maintenance of a £460m programme of work. The aim of ARP is to implement new technology that provides innovation and enhances patient care with the latest equipment. ARPs solutions also play a longer-term role in preparing the ambulance service for the adoption of the Home Office's Emergency Services Network (ESN).

ARP is currently in the process of introducing an array of new technology-based services to Ambulance Trusts and Air Ambulance charities. The Services include the introduction of new technology to the national Ambulance fleet (approx. 6500 vehicles) and upgrading and developing new, data-rich communications products (apps and hardware) for use by over 15,000 frontline paramedic and Control Room staff. Overall, ARP is responsible for providing an end-to-end service covering installation, maintenance and replacement, which plays a key role in enabling effective response to critical life-threatening incidents.
