Band 6 Locality Commissioning Specialist, 37.5 hours per week
NHS Devon is looking for a motivated and organised Band 6 Locality Commissioning Specialist to join our busy, small and friendly team in the North and East Locality.
As part of a rolling programme of work, you’ll take the lead on specific projects, collaborate closely with teams across the system and the ICB, including the Devon Commissioning and Delivery Unit, Population Health Team, and business partners in BI, finance, and PMO.
In this role, you’ll act as a subject matter expert for your area, ensuring that healthcare systems and services align with the NHS System Oversight Framework. You’ll play a key part in restoring services, tackling backlogs, and accelerating progress toward strategic goals.
Main duties of the job
You will support implementation of strategic modernisation/service improvement, and commissioning strategies, in accordance with the agreed priorities of the locality team. Supporting the locality and LCP’s including leading on developing and enhancing community development and empowerment.
You will use all of your skills to support the Locality and be able to work in a flexible and matrix way across multiple areas to support the needs of the Locality, driving transformational change in local healthcare services for the specific needs of the population of North and East Devon.

Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in specialist area.
- Experience of co-ordinating projects in complex and challenging environments.
- Experience of stakeholder management.
- Comprehensive knowledge of project management
- Expert knowledge of MS packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Further training or significant experience in specialist area.
- Evidence of continued professional development.
- Experience of working across partnership organisations.
- Experience of engagement across different sectors; statutory and non-statutory.
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience in similar role in public sector
