Assistant Management Accountant

Job overview

We are seeking an AAT qualified accounting technician looking to become fully qualified accountants under the government’s apprenticeship system to fill a permanent band 5 assistant management accountant position.

 

The course will be fully funded under the apprenticeship system and 20% of the full time hours will be used for training either in college or training at work.

 

These positions will give the successful applicants the chance to grow their professional skills and judgement at a high level and will need to deliver results quickly and effectively within the financial management team for a number of high profile areas of the trust, whilst studying for an internationally recognised qualification.

Main duties of the job

  • Support budget holders on achieving best value for money from resources
  • Support the Management Accountants with the annual budget setting process
  • To investigate budgetary variances and providing responses to budget holders
  • To provide leadership to management account assistants and task manage their workload
  • To prepare journals for entry into the financial system
  • To maintain the Trust chart of accounts and ESR work structures
  • To assist the publishing of the Finance Report

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 7 GCSEs grade C and above including Maths and English or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • European Computer Driving Licence
  • Studying for an accountancy qualification
  • Minimum of 2 A Levels or equivalent

Previous experience

  • Experience of working within a financial environment
