Cath Lab Practitioner

As a member of the team you will be expected to work in a confident and professional manner; the successful applicant will provide exemplary planned care for patients within the Cath Lab and external cardiology areas. Additionally, we are looking for an enthusiastic and committed person who will work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary teams that access and work in the Cath Lab environment.
The successful candidate must be able to work flexibly as there is an expectation that you will provide out of hours on call support. We are open Mon-Fri 8-630 with the expectation to work 4 shifts over 5 days with an on-call out of hours commitment.
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***

Provides high quality care to patients and their families during the perioperative period.
Reporting and documenting all relevant patient needs, communicating changes to other
health professionals in the multidisciplinary team.
Act as Practitioner in charge, in the absence of the Team Leader ensuring efficient
allocation of staff and resources.
Demonstrates a commitment to evidence-based practice and clinical excellence and play an
active role in the introduction of this evidence to improve patient centred care.
To engage and interact with patients and their carers, explaining procedures and treatments
to gain co-operation, understanding and allay apprehension.
Assist with projects to develop and enhance patient care. Participate in the evaluation of
patient outcomes, including audit, risk management and infection control.
Assists in other clinical areas and speciality theatres if the clinical situation and staffing
levels demand.
Attend relevant meetings and deliver feedback.
To develop and achieve objectives identified through continuing appraisal of job role.
To develop appraisal skills and carry out appraisals and personal development plans for
non-registered practitioners in line with Agenda for Change and the knowledge skills
framework

- Basic computer skills (ECDL)0
- Relevant theatre-based course e.g.: HEA 362
Aptitude & Abilities

- Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate clinical care and act accordingly
- Proven evidence of recent CPD
- Proven knowledge of and ability to apply evidence-based practice

- Demonstrate awareness of financial constraints
- Methodical and organised
Knowledge and Experience

- RN/ODP training completed

- Demonstrable experience of perioperative care
- Completed a preceptorship programme
- Demonstrable experience in Cardiac Catheter laboratory
