Job overview

As a Customer Services Apprentice you will be part of a happy and supportive team, working in a busy and sometimes demanding administrative environment. You will be working closely with the Nephrology admin and clinical teams as well as supporting the Renal ward and Dialysis Unit. 

Successful applicants in this role will have excellent communication skills and a great work ethic. Applicants will preferably have some administrative or customer service experience. You will be reliable, flexible and able to effectively manage priorities. Applicants need to be available 5 days per week and work well under pressure.

Main duties of the job

  • To use a variety of communication techniques (i.e. telephone, email and face to face) to all levels of hospital staff including external agencies and contacts
  • To support the office and telephone cover across the Nephrology team

Carry out administration tasks as appropriate, this includes photocopying, scanning, filing and note tracing

The Nephrology team consists of:

  • Secretaries and support staff
  • Consultants, Registrars and Junior Dr's
  • CKD Nurses
  • Transplant Nurses
  • Ward Management and Clinical team (including the Dialysis Unit)

 

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The successful applicant will be trained to:

  • Take appropriate actions with regard to telephone calls from patients, GPs and other agencies using initiative, in adherence to Trust guidelines
  • Request and Trace Hospital Notes
  • General Filling
  • Opening the post and distributing within the Department.
  • General administration and support for all areas of the team, Nephrology Secretaries, Transplant, CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease), the Ward and Dialysis
  • Collecting patient notes from Main Outpatients
  • Distribution and tracing of notes to be sent to and received from coding

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate ability to use all main software packages
  • IT Skills
Desirable criteria
  • Some knowledge of the NHS
  • Previous Administration or Customer Service experience

Qualifications

  • Educated to GCSE C in English and Maths or Level 2 Functional Skills
