Main duties of the job

Part of a small and very experienced friendly team various aspects of Ophthalmology including post Surgery and emergency appointments.

Gaining knowledge and experience in the specialty.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • The urgent care department requires the Nurse Practitioner to respond to highly unpredictable work patterns, frequently changing needs and continual decision making periods requiring precise use of time management skills.
  • Take responsibility on a rotational basis in the absence of the Nurse Manager/Junior Sister, management duties for the department such as; day to allocation of staff and smooth running of the department.
  • In the absence of the nurse manager organise and arrange the duty roster and cover for the department and respond to frequently changing departmental needs including cover for sickness at short notice, ordering bank staff and signing time sheets.
  • Participate in the planning and development of the Ophthalmic service through working parties and peer group meetings.
