An opportunity has arisen to join University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, Hotel Services team as a Porter within the Refuse collection team.
We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals who have a passion for customer satisfaction and who can work as part of a very busy Hotel Services Department and Portering team.
The successful applicants will be required to work various shifts through a 24 hour period/7 days per week including weekend, Bank Holiday and night working.
However, the Primary Set rota for this 15 hour post is Saturday and Sunday, 08:00 - 16:00,
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
Main duties of the job
The Post holder will be responsible for helping provide a safe, effective, efficient and customer friendly Portering service for the Hotel Services and the Centralised Portering Teams, Patients, Public and UHPNT (and associated) Staff.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Primary role - Moving of waste and linen via manual handling of large containers.
- To maintain clear and effective communication channels with Team Leaders and Clinical and Non Clinical Staff
- To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team on a daily basis and understand own workload and undertake requests received by Trust Staff

Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- • Proven evidence of Team working
- • Previous demonstrable experience of dealing face-to-face with the general public.
Desirable criteria
- • Proven knowledge of NHS / Trust working policies, procedures and requirements.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- • Must be able to demonstrate a good standard of numeracy, literacy, and IT skills. • Educated to English and Maths 9-4 or equivalent demonstrable experience
- • Health and Safety
Desirable criteria
- • NVQ level 2 or equivalent in care (or able to work towards obtaining a suitable qualification in care)
Aptitude & Abilities
Essential criteria
- • Good verbal and written communication skills
- • Able to competently carryout designated workload within scope
