Job overview

We are looking for a self-motivated well organised person with good communication skills who likes to work as part of a team but also the ability to use their initiative and work on their own. 

 

This role would suit those with proven admin and customer service experience to provide a comprehensive efficient and effective service to Specialist Services within the Sensory Team, Disability Information and Accessible Information Services. The role may also entail providing administration support across Spec Services and other community teams dependent on where demand is.

 

This post provides a single point of contact for both professionals in Health and Social care and the public and requires a prompt response to initial enquires and referrals ensuring all information is gathered accurately.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for being the first point of contact dealing with callers in person, on the telephone, email, text and post

Respond and be responsible for referrals and enquires from Health, Social Care and the General Public

Gather information to assess risks and needs. To maintain a waiting list and allocate cases as required depending on urgency

Complete reviews and complete appropriate records, action outcomes

Provide comprehensive administration for the service, the team and the Manager

Work in a busy environment and understanding the complexities and communication needs of those with a Sensory Loss

To undertake additional duties as required, commensurate with the level of the job

Working for our organisation

The teams sit within the Torquay integrated Service covering the whole of Torbay. There is a base in Union House Torquay and a resource centre that runs from Paignton and offers drop in sessions as well as group sessions facilitated by the team.

 

The teams have a wealth of specialist experience and excellent communication skills. We motivated and passionate providing a proactive service, being flexible and creative in meeting the needs of the community who have a sensory loss.

 

The Baywide Specialist Services team consist of:

·       Disability Information and Accessible Information Services

Qualifications and training

Essential criteria
  • GCSE passes at Grade C or above or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of consistent pattern of learning from education, training and experience
  • Understanding of basic human needs – physical, emotional, health and social
  • Good standard of numeracy and literacy
  • Experience of working within a customer facing environment
  • Understanding of confidentiality
  • Understanding GDPR
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ 3 in Social/Healthcare

Knowledge and experience

Essential criteria
  • Awareness of Care Act 2014 legislation
  • Assessment & Care Management Process, policies and standards
  • Effective keyboard/IT skills, which include accurate recording skills
  • Effective in using multiple data base computer systems
  • Evidence of continue personal learning and development
  • Willingness to undertake training to develop within role
  • Commitment to anti-discriminatory practices and compliance with the Equal Opportunities Policy
  • Ability to respect confidentiality and deal with matters of a sensitive nature
