Job overview

Our Ward Clerk will provide reception and clerical support to Midgley Ward whilst on duty and to ensure adequate stationary supplies for ward needs. They will assist with and maintain a high standard of record keeping at ward level. They will ensure required documentation is sent to GPs 
and agencies in a timely way.

Main duties of the job

You will be the first point of call to families, answering calls promptly and with patience and understanding.

You will request, file and return notes, maintain records of VTE and Discharge letters  and ensure stationary supplies are maintained.

You will have direct contact with patients and their carers and you will often work under pressure . Your IT expertise may also be required to support team members.

You will be responsible for distributing the patients notes to wherever they are required to be.

  • Provide a reception service for the ward
  •  Liaise with outside team members as needed
  • Ensure documentation is available for staff and to provide support in its completion as able
  • Liaise with relatives and care services as needed, ensuring that information is shared when needed

Cheetham Hill is a 28 bed ward caring for patients over the age of  65 and who may be suffering with dementia. We provide care and assessment for patients suffering a wide range of medical conditions.

 You will be the first contact with the ward for many relatives so your communication skills will be excellent.

  • 4 GCSE'S or equivalent

  • Ability to achieve deadlines
  • To be able to communicate/interact effectively with patients, visitors, and hospital staff both on a one to one basis and by phone

  • Ability to work with speed and accuracy at all times
  • Knowledge of PAS
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of Medical Records
  • Experience in Unit 4 System
  • Experience of IHCS
