We are looking for an enthusiastic & motivated person to join the friendly clerical team in Radiology at Torbay Hospital working 37.5 hours a week Monday – Friday 8.30 – 17.00 (1-hour lunch) with the potential of evening & weekend working.
You will be working on a rotational basis covering a number of admin roles that will include all aspects of clerical/admin duties in the call centre and Radiology office. The department is fast paced and we are continually evolving; the need to be flexible is paramount.
Often you will be the first key point of contact for a patient who contacts Radiology whether that be face to face or telephone and will be responsible for ensuring appointments are booked correctly and appropriately.
This role is varied and full training will be given ensuring that you will have the ability to work both as a team member and with your own initiative. Good keyboard and communication skills are essential and experience of clinical IT systems would be an advantage.

Main duties of the job
- To provide excellent, innovative Radiology services.
- Handling inbound calls.
- Booking, cancelling and re-arranging Radiology appointments.
- Processing new referrals from external and Internal Sources.
- To act with professionalism and integrity, being a role model to those around us and ensuring everyone has an equal opportunity.
- To understand relevant processes that support our patients/customers during their visit to Radiology.
- To provide a high-quality customer service that complies with NHS Employment standards.
- To work as part of a team demonstrating effective communication, and working collaboratively with colleagues in all areas of the Trust.
Our call centre team are responsible for booking the majority of Radiology Outpatient appointments. You must be able to work independently demonstrating excellent prioritisation and time management skills whilst having the ability to cope with complex situations.
Working for our organisation
Our admin team comprise of two sections:
Radiology call centre, with 9 clerical officers and 3 supervisors.
Radiology Main office with 6 clerical officers and 2 supervisors.
