Job overview
We are thrilled to offer you a unique chance to become a part of the Chaplaincy team at Torbay Hospital. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and cater to the spiritual, religious, cultural, and pastoral requirements of patients, visitors, and staff.
Join us and become vital member of our organisation in providing compassionate multi faith care to patients, their families, and our dedicated Trust staff, with particular responsibility for those within the Catholic tradition.
As a Catholic Healthcare Chaplain your primary responsibility will be ensuring individuals are met with utmost compassion and understanding.
In this patient facing role, you will need to be an authorised minister of the Roman Catholic Church, and able to respond to patient needs out of hours on an on call basis. We prioritise flexibility and are willing to discuss various working arrangements, as long as you commit to working 3.5 hours per week (plus on call).
Main duties of the job
Your main responsibility will be to provide pastoral care of Catholic patients, families, visitors, staff and students within our hospitals, particularly the ill or end of life patients and bereaved loved ones who request a visit from the Catholic Chaplain.
You will officiate at funerals arranged by the Trust when a Catholic celebrant is required and do so in accordance with agreed protocols. Elsewhere, you will ensure that appropriate spiritual care at the end of life for patients within the Catholic tradition can be accessed at all times.
Working for our organisation
Your will work in a non-judgemental and positive environment, and be part of an inclusive outlook, respecting all faith and belief traditions.
Your own personal and professional development will be encouraged, and your own faith or belief will be valued as part of a multi faith team
