Job overview
We are seeking to recruit a passionate and enthusiastic Nursery Assistant to work in our highly valued nursery, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays). The ideal candidate will need to have a creative imagination, sing (tunefully or not), enjoy telling storied that come alive and answer questions put to them by curious little minds!
More importantly, you must be ready to become part of our friendly team and share the same vision to be the best that we can be in caring for and educating our next generation of excited and enthusiastic learners..
You will have a sound knowledge of the EYFS, have effective communication skills and be able to work collaboratively in a large team. You should have an excellent knowledge of child development, safeguarding and be able to demonstrate a high level of practice and knowledge with children.
You will be required to work with all age ranges as and when needed, and may be moved to different rooms to meet the requirements of the service. Experience of working with babies is essential.
Main duties of the job
- To work within a 54 place Day Nursery, caring for children from between 3 months to 5 years of age.
- You will be required to have a wealth of experience of children ranging from babies to preschool.
- You must have will have an outstanding knowledge of the EYFS and be able to provide exemplary care and education to children and babies.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To foster good relationships with parents and share with them appropriate information about their child’s progress and development; on a daily basis and at parents’ evenings
- To maintain excellent communication and rapport with all children and parents at all times in order to ensure effective partnership with parents
- To communicate with other team members in the nursery
- Conducting observations on children and making accurate assessments on their individual progress
- Writing termly assessment reports for individual children

- Proven relevant experience of working with children from 0-5 years in a group setting.
