An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Band 6 Paediatric Sister/Charge Nurse to our New dedicated Children's Emergency Department.
We are looking for a motivated individual who is flexible, committed, dynamic and approachable to join our new dedicated paediatric area . You must be able to demonstrate substantial ED nursing experience with a pro-active approach to delivering a high standard of evidence based care.
We recognize the importance of progression and nurturing our own staff, this will start with a supernumerary induction program and ongoing professional development tailored to your individual learning needs and supported by our Paediatric Practice Educator.
As a sister /charge nurse, you will be expected to ensure that all staff working within the department on a daily basis are able to provide and be provided with mentoring, supervision and teaching of new and junior members of the nursing team.
Main duties of the job
- A post with responsibility for the organisation and management of resources in the provision of emergency health care given to patients aged 0-18 years old.
- To work as part of the multi-disciplinary team ensuring the co-ordination and flow of patients in a safe but timely manner to meet the government emergency care targets.
- Undertake supervision, mentorship and where appropriate teach registered and non-registered nursing staff.
- Ensuring that staff provide the highest achievable standard of emergency care
Working for our organisation
- The Emergency department assesses treats and admits or discharges over 25,000 emergency patients, aged 0-18 years old per year and has an admission rate of between 10 – 30 patients per day.
- The post holder will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, working with and supporting all members of that team both within and external to the Directorate.
- Responsibility will be to the Nurse Team Manager and Paediatric Band 7 nurse.
- The post-holder will have no direct budgetary responsibility but must be aware of the need to use resources effectively.
