Senior Pharmacy Assistant (Aseptic Services)

Band 2/3 depending upon experience

Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated person with good manual dexterity and attention to detail to join our Aseptic Services team as a Pharmacy Assistant.  Working closely with the rest of the team, you will work on a rota  both as a cleanroom operator, preparing a range of treatments for patients, including cytotoxic chemotherapy, and outside of the clean room supporting other clean room operators.  You will be required to work to regulatory standards, accurately following Standard Operating Procedures which are compliant with Good Manufacturing Practice.

The successful applicant will undertake in house training to become a competent cleanroom operator who is also able to undertake a wide range of other day to day activities in the aseptic unit.  In-house specialist training in Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) principles will be provided.  Other duties include cleaning and maintaining the aseptic suite and its associated equipment to the required standards,  processing prescriptions when they are received into the department, generating appropriate worksheet documentation, setting up work trays and liaising with other departments /ward staff to co-ordinate timely supply and delivery of treatments. You will participate in weekend and Bank Holiday rotas as required.

Main duties of the job

You will ideally have an NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent qualification), however candidates without this will be considered for a Band 2 post, progressing to Band 3 once our in-house training and competency package has been achieved. Previous experience working within a regulated environment, in cleanrooms or laboratories is desirable but, as all training will be given in-house, it is not essential.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, methodical person who is able to work well as part of a small team, willing to undertake work within a cleanroom environment and able to manage their own workload unsupervised

Please note that this is a full time post working Monday - Friday, 8.45am - 5pm
