Are you HCPC qualified looking to take the next step in your CT Radiography career? 

Our Radiography service is offering a fantastic opportunity to join our CT team and lead on co-ordination of research trials. This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced CT Radiographer to join our highly experienced CT team in Torbay Hospital. 

In your role, you can expect to be responsible for managing the workload in the area your are responsible for. Candidates will have a good level of experience in carrying out CT examinations in the NHS. You will provide high quality diagnostic CT imaging and support more complex procedures, where this is appropriate for the role and after appropriate training. You will use your CT experience to work with the TSDFT R&D Team and Radiology Leads to co-ordinate and track research trials activity across the service. 

Many research trials involve CT examinations and thus this role requires good knowledge of all aspects CT scanning. However the successful candidate will also support similar activity in other modalities and thus be willing to develop wider knowledge of those services.

  • To undertake diagnostic radiographic duties and support radiographic research as required.
  • To work within all mandated Regulatory guidelines and comply with all Trust and Departmental, Policies Protocols and Guidelines, ensuring high quality, safe working practices in a safe working environment
  • Provide highest quality of care, treating all patients equally.
  • To work as part of the wider TSDFT team, supporting patient pathways for all patient types, assuring that patients receive the most effective and efficient service
  • You will supervise and advise trainees and students and be part of the 24 hours/7-day provision of service. This will involve working without more senior radiographic supervision on-site 
  • You are responsible for maintaining their registration and must have a relevant iv cannulation certificate of competency
  • To ensure effective communication and collaboration between the Research and Radiology teams to ensure timely, effective set up and delivery of research activity requiring diagnostic imaging.
  • To be familiar with and understand relevant research documentation and effectively communicate requirements to relevant teams, negotiating with modality leads as required.
  • To provide information, advice and guidance on any aspect of research activities to Radiology team members and to members of the research team in relation to imaging processes.
  • To promote and encourage good and effective professional practices in the department by example and instruction.

Gweithio i'n sefydliad

The CT team is led by our Superintendent Radiographer and clinically supported and supervised by two Consultant Radiologists. If you join our team, you will join a service that is multi-disciplinary, staffed by a mix of permanent CT Radiographers and colleagues with split CT and Plain Film roles.

You will be working  as a CT Radiographer across our 24/7 service, largely working 12 hour shifts.

You will have close relationships with the clinical research team.  We are committed to offering patients and staff from across our organisation the opportunity to participate in clinical trials.  You will be expected to maintain close links with the R&D team to ensure timely sign off of trials as part of the wider study set up process and work with R&D and the clinical teams to reduce any delay as far as possible.

Care to Join us?   Torbay Hospital  provides acute care for the local community and has several community hospitals, and is a hot-spot for those who are considering living by the sea or within half an hour of Dartmoor National Park and an hour to Exmoor National Park. Meanwhile, Plymouth and Exeter are also both within a short drive to enjoy the culture, maritime history and shopping experiences.

The post holder is required to communicate effectively with all levels of Trust staff, carers and relatives in order to provide best patient care.

Is able to assess the requirements of each individual patient and adapt any 
part of the visit or examination in order to give the patient the best experience possible.

Contributes to the efficient and effective delivery of the workload.

Maintain and developing professional competency, meeting the requirements 
of appropriate professional bodies in respect of CPD.

Shares knowledge & experience with other practitioners, assistant 
practitioners, student radiographers and other trainees.

Must highlight training deficiencies in relation to any equipment.

It is expected that data quality will be maintained by compliance with all data entry requirements in the RIS.

The post holder will support any R&D activity as required that is within the 
scope of their role.
