Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 (or band 5 development post) Registered Nurse to work within the Specialist Lymphoedema Service in Torbay and South Devon NHS Trust to cover 12 months maternity leave.

The role requires you to be flexible. You should have excellent time management skills and be able to prioritise your workload daily. The successful applicant will support the Clinical Lead in service development and implementing new ways of working. 

The role includes performing as a specialist nurse in all aspects of Lymphoedema care, and applicants must have a relevant specialist qualification or be willing to gain a qualification in Lymphoedema management. The role will include undertaking a holistic assessment of patients with Lymphoedema considering safe and effective care in the on-going assessment, Doppler and hosiery/compression physical, psychological, emotional, and social needs and implementing plans of care and lifestyle changes, to enhance quality of life for patients living Lymphoedema.

Main duties of the job

  • The applicant should have excellent communication skills to deliver health promotion strategies to patients and other health care professionals.
  • This post will allow you to expand on your skills in delivery of training and assessment of other health care professionals to support all patients in the community /acute /palliative setting with regards to excellent Lymphoedema management.
  • They will be working within the acute setting/community/palliative teams and therefore need to be able to have the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team assessing, triaging, planning, and implementing specialist Lymphoedema care advice and management.  
  • The individual should have sound knowledge of NICE guidance, best practice and evidence-based practice related to Lymphoedema.

The post is based within the outpatient department situated in the grounds of Rowcroft Hospice, Torquay.

Full time (part time applicants will be considered ). You will need to be a first level registered nurse with an specialist interest in Lymphoedema management.
