To be successful at interview for this Lead Research Nurse position you will offer a minimum of 3 years experience as a Research Nurse of set up and lead facilitation of clinical research trials, holding the accountability to meet study targets, stipulated timeframes, and the expectations of sponsors / funding partners. 

You will be joining a dedicated and motivated small team as part of a lead role that is a job share. We are a team that is motivated and excited as we engage with a recently refreshed Research and Development plan.  This is an excellent time to join us as we step out on an ambitious path to widen our portfolio and reach. As a team player you will be confident in your role and experience and able to support and grow junior colleagues .

We are already on a collaborative journey with the Clinical Research Network and Dorset County Hospital to launch a Research and Vaccination Hub in West Dorset as well as furthering our existing strong commitment to relationships with our research partners within higher education. 

This part time role will require you to be flexible to meet a varied engaging and diverse portfolio. This,  together with your understanding of a true partnership approach, will strengthen our existing team commitment to further research integration across our Dorset; giving opportunity for our population to participate and benefit from engagement in research that is relevant to the unique demographic of our county.

The post holder will support the aims of the Trust and the NIHR Clinical Research Network to improve the speed, quality and integration of clinical research, through the successful delivery of clinical research in the NHS. 

Responsible for the day-to-day management of the  research team, ensuring appropriate cover and skill  mix for smooth running of research projects.

Work with Principal Investigators (PIs), to undertake  caseload of research studies.

Liaise with the Principal Investigators; allocate  research projects to research staff, using  professional judgement to assess workload and  capacity.

Provide professional leadership and support at  departmental level and collaborate with the  Nursing and quality Directorate to enhance R&D 
practice and strategy.

Act as a role model and clinical expert at  departmental level ensuring high standards of  care and safety for research participants.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of.  Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

Knowledge, Skills & Training

  • Excellent presentation, organisation and time management skills, writing, numerical and verbal skills
