Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Cardiac nurse specialist team. The team is made up of highly skilled Cardiac Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Specialist nurses in electrophysiology, heart failure and acute coronary syndrome. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cardiac Nurse Specialist to join our service at Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospital which is merging into the University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust.
The team supports all aspects of patient flow through the Cardiac department from admission to discharge including management of the outpatient pathway and on going patient support. As the successful candidate you will have experience in the management of patients with Cardiac conditions requiring timely intervention. You will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills.
The position will require the post holder to work in variety of settings within the Cardiac directorate but the main purpose will be working and supporting the electrophysiology team. The shift patterns and times
will vary according to the needs of the service.

- NMC registered Nurse
- Recognised teaching qualification
Desirable criteria
- Physical Examination of the Adult Course
- Relevant specialist cardiology Course
- Advanced communication/ counselling skills
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Developments in Cardiology initiatives and treatments at national and local levels
- ECG recording / interpretation
- In depth knowledge of Cardiac anatomy and physiology
- Conversant with current developments affecting cardiac patients in cardiology at national and local levels
Interpersonal skills
Essential criteria
- Excellent interpersonal skills with multidisciplinary team, patients, carers and relatives
- Organisation and planning skills
- Time management
- Ability to prioritise effectively
