We’re looking for an experienced registered nurse with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to join our Pharmacy Risk, Quality and Governance Team at #TeamUHD.
You’ll have the opportunity to develop your leadership and management skills with varied training, such as leading Datix review investigations, Root Cause Analysis and more. Your success is our success and we’ll support you in all your training and development endeavours.
You will help to solidify and grow the relationship between pharmacy and nursing staff, bringing a valuable nursing perspective to help shape pharmacy service delivery.

Main duties of the job
- Provide support to Pharmacy and Ward staff in the implementation and management of safe medication practices, e.g. NHS Commissioning Board Special Health Authority / National Reporting and Learning System (NRLS) alerts, Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency (MHRA) alerts, NHS England advice
- Support pharmacy and nursing staff in analysing, reporting on, reflecting, and learning from medication incidents.
- Identify trends in mismanagement of medicines and to drive and support change in practice to avoid recurrence.
- Be a champion and advocate for medication safety, supporting both Pharmacy and the wider Trust.
- Support pharmacy and nursing staff in analysing, reporting on, reflecting, and learning from medication incidents.
- Provide nursing expertise, facilitating evidence-based, patient centred care for patients.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registration with NMC
- Advance diploma/degree in adult health nursing studies
Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive ward based experience
- Excellent IT skills
- Audit and research skills, including feedback and implementation of findings
- Comprehensive understanding of professional nursing issues
Desirable criteria
- Familiarity with WellSky pharmacy / prescribing system
- Experience of delivering training
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Specialist working knowledge of management of medicines in hospitals and the risks associated with medicines use
- Ability to produce and interpret medicines management related policies
- Well developed knowledge across a wide range of medicines management related procedures
Desirable criteria
- Awareness of quality and safety agendas that support governance framework
Applicant requirements
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
