The Durham Community Adult Mental Health Service is looking to recruit a Trainee Dialectical Behaviour Therapist (DBT) this is an exciting opportunity to join our established DBT service and be part of its continued growth and development.
Main duties of the job
Applicants will be required to have either RMN or equivalent mental health core qualification at degree level post 1993 and be registered with a professional regulatory body. They will have experience of delivering psychologically informed interventions to people experiencing severe mental health problems in a secondary care setting. They will be required to have a strong demonstrable interest in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and to have completed DBT training with a licenced DBT training provider to either Foundation (five days) or Intensive (10 days) level. A willingness to engage in further study and practice towards eventual accreditation as a DBT therapist is essential. During the course of training study and placement outside the Durham locality may be required. There will be no costs for further training incurred by the individual however the offer of trainee post to the successful applicant will be contingent on acceptance on an accredited training course.
On achieving accreditation the post holder would be upgraded to a Band 7 Psychological Therapist role and salary.

- To be actively involved in the development and provision of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy within the team
- To be actively involved in the delivery of all modes of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy in accordance with adherence to the model– ie DBT Skills training, Individual Therapy, Consult, Telephone Coaching and Structuring the Wider Environment
- To collect outcome data at various points of the clients DBT journey (minimum measurement points - baseline, midpoint and end), Linking in British Isles DBT Benchmarkin

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- A recorded/registered qualification in one of the following at degree level (post 1993) in nursing, social work, occupational therapy.
- Registered with a professional regulatory body (HCPC, NMC, GMC, Social Work England)
- Numeracy, Literacy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)
Experience
