Job overview

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, well-motivated, forward-thinking Community Associate Practitioner to work as part of our team - We work with young people with moderate to severe  mental health problems living in the Middlesbrough  area.

We are an experienced team who will support the successful applicant to develop their skills within this area of practice.

 

Main duties of the job

The team is multi-disciplinary and provides mental health assessments, treatment and interventions for young people suffering from moderate to severe complex emotional, behavioural and psychological issues resulting in mental health problems.

Experience of working clinically within  Mental Health and Neurodevelopmental needs is essential.

You will work as part of a team but will need to be confident in your own clinical decision making skills. You will work with a range of professionals from a variety of different agencies including social care,  schools, acute care and a range of community and voluntary sector partners.

The successful individual will need a Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care and Literacy and Numeracy Level 2 or equivalent to be recruited into this position on Band 4.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As an associate Practitioners you will co-work alongside the CAMHs clinicians to complete assessments and deliver interventions for those young people assessing support from Middlesbrough CAMHs Getting more help team or those under assessment for ADHD.

You will manage a small caseload, however regular clinical supervision will be in place to help manage risk and ensure you feel fully supported within your role. 

Additional training will be offered as required. 

The role can be demanding but also highly rewarding so you will need to be someone who is motivated, resilient and passionate about working with this client group.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
  • Key skills in literacy, numeracy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience of working with people with mental/social health needs or learning disabilities.
  • Previous experience as a Band 2/3 HCA or equivalent in a care environment
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in the community mental health team
  • Experience of working with children and young people and their families.
  • Experience of 1:1 working.
  • Experience of delivery group intervention.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Awareness of legal frameworks including Mental Health legislation, The Care Act 2014
  • Evidence based knowledge of best practice in caring for children and young people with enduring/ complex mental health difficulties
  • Willing to undertake learning in specific areas which are relevant to the role e.g. challenging behaviour, personality disorders, psychosis.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of therapeutic models such as CBT, DBT and incredible years.

  • Competency in record keeping (within agreed timescales)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
