We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated registered Pharmacy Technician to join our successful team and contribute towards developing our services. Whether you are an experienced or newly qualified technician, we can offer further development and training to extend your role in improving patient care. Applicants should hold Level 3 BTEC / NVQ Pharmacy Services certificate or equivalent, be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician. Experience of working in a hospital pharmacy department as a qualified technician or as a student technician is desirable although applications from qualified pharmacy technicians working in the community sector are welcome.
We currently have a permanent part time vacancy. The role involves providing ward based medicines management services to wards within the Roseberry Park Hospital site and the outlying wards in the Tees locality.
Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide technical aspects of the pharmacy medicines management & medicines optimisation services, working in both the dispensary and the wards at Roseberry Park Hospital.
Working for our organisation
The pharmacy team in TEWV has over 100 team members including drivers, pharmacy assistants, administration, nurses, pharmacy technicians and pharmacists. Individual team members are spread across multiple sites, with a dispensary in each of our 3 localities. The locality teams work independently, but come together to agree standards and best practice, learning from each other and trying to improve.
We developed a 5 year Medicines Optimisation and Pharmacy Framework which was created with the teams to produce a shared set of themes and priorities.

To work together with the other pharmacy colleagues, in the dispensaries and wards, to provide patients with an accurate and timely supply of medication from admission through to discharge.
To be able to competently dispense an array of medication from a variety of order forms.
To be responsible for a range of technical duties in the dispensaries to aid in the smooth and efficient running of the department.
To assist the clinical pharmacists and Senior Pharmacy Technicians in the provision of a ward based medicines optimisation service.
To deliver the technical clinical pharmacy service and promote medicines optimisation across a variety of specialities under the direction of the Lead Pharmacy Technician.
To promote at all times a positive image of people with mental health conditions and learning disabilities.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NVQ level 3 with BTEC underpinning knowledge in pharmaceutical sciences or equivalent
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
Desirable criteria
- Accredited National Medicines management course (modules 1-3) or regional equivalent or Regional technician training scheme
- Accredited Technician Checking Course
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of pharmacy practice within hospital or community setting
Desirable criteria
- Experience in mental health
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Numeracy and literacy
- Understanding of the risk issues associated with medicines
Desirable criteria
