Job overview

We are looking to recruit 1 part-time (30 hours) well organised Clinical Team Secretary/Administrators, to provide an efficient support service to our North Durham Getting More Help Team. 

Applicants should be self-motivated, organised and have a flexible approach to work. The ability to work as part of a team and a willingness to perform repetitive tasks whilst maintaining attention to detail, have the capacity to prioritise their workload and accommodates urgent requests from senior staff whilst dealing sensitively with issues and maintaining confidential information.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, taking action where necessary and ensuring messages are communicated accurately and in an appropriate and timely manner coupled with proven secretarial skills and previous experience is essential.

Main duties of the job

Applicants should be able to demonstrate excellent communication and organisation skills, and have an understanding of administrative/clerical procedures and experience of working in a customer service environment.

Applicants would be the first point of contact for service users, family and carers, responding to a range of enquiries or concerns.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Diploma/NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or equivalent (or willingness to achieve within an agreed timescale)
  • ITQ Level 2 or equivalent or willingness to work towards
  • Key skills in literacy and numeracy Level 2 or O Level / GCSE in Maths and English grade C or above

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant secretarial/administrative experience.
Desirable criteria
  • Secretarial/administrative experience in a clinical environment.

Skills/Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Understanding of confidentiality and the associated legal and policy requirements.
  • Maintain concentration and attention to detail whilst also dealing effectively with interruptions.
Desirable criteria
  • Working knowledge of medical/psychological terminology.
