With a budget of around £365m, three hospitals and 5,500 staff, North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital-based services to the population of Hartlepool, Stockton on Tees and parts of East Durham and Sedgefield as well as community, therapeutic and screening to a wider population across Durham and Teesside.
Job overview
The post holder reports directly to the Group Management team and professionally to the Associate Director of Nursing.
· The post holder will have a key role in the planning, provision and promotion of a comprehensive Tees wide urology service
· Working alongside the senior nursing team, will help to co-ordinate and develop the urology service providing leadership, support and guidance to all staff thus ensuring a patient focused service
Main duties of the job
· To provide professional leadership in relation to urological organisational issues
· Key role in the shaping, planning and delivery of a high quality innovative service which is patient and staff focussed, thus supporting the delivery of safe and effective care
· The post holder will manage the flexible cystoscopy lists, ensuring adequate cover from nurse cystoscopists and medical staff and re-allocate lists where necessary to ensure continuity of the service.
· The post holder will carry out training for nurse cystoscopists and ensure a safe and quality service
· To work alongside other internal departments to organise and staff where necessary, any extra or waiting list initiative lists to ensure that all patients awaiting this investigation are seen in a timely manner
· The post holder will organise and run an independent two week rule clinic for patients referred with possible prostate cancer who are suitable for active treatment. This will involve arranging imaging and investigations and giving patients diagnosis via telephone or face to face
· The post holder will manage a team of Specialist nurses and Advanced Care Practitioners, ensuring that they support patients through their cancer journey by maintaining adequate clinic cover so that each patient has the support of a specialist nurse during their diagnosis and onward support

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Collaborative Care Group consists of a number of Pre-assessment acute/elective orthopaedic and surgical wards, Day case, Theatres/Critical Care , Specialist services and Practitioners.
The post holder would ensure the highest standards of clinical care are delivered by providing leadership to the professional and direct care staff within the wards and departments for which the post holder is accountable.
They should be a visible and accessible presence in the ward settings, maintaining effective communication, and ensure the Trust patient safety and quality standards are maintained.
The post holder should facilitate professional development of staff including education and training of pre and post-registered staff within the wards for which the post holder is accountable.
