With a budget of around £365m, three hospitals and 5,500 staff, North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital-based services to the population of Hartlepool, Stockton on Tees and parts of East Durham and Sedgefield as well as community, therapeutic and screening to a wider population across Durham and Teesside.

To have continuing responsibility for the management and provision of patient care, ensuring high standards are maintained at all times.  To manage practice developments and participate in identifying and achieving the Trust and unit objectives.

Provide senior Paediatric advice to the nursing staff, supporting the operational leads and Senior Clinical Paediatric Matron in delivering the quality agenda in relation to Children’s and Young Peoples.

To manage the paediatric community and outpatient nursing teams and manage day to day clinical issues as they arise

Deploy nursing staff over a 24 hour period to meet the needs of the area and ensure the unit is safely staffed at all times

To manage the recruitment and retention of all staffing within the area

To provide clinical expertise, leadership and advice within a patient safety environment

To facilitate the development and expansion of the service

Develop and maintain formal appraisal systems within the defined area identifying individual development needs of the nursing team

To implement training programmes to support change in nursing practice using research based evidence including an educational environment for students

To assist the operation leads/SCM in the business planning process identifying specific issues

To contribute and deliver the nursing and strategy in the designated clinical area

To promote and demonstrate an evaluating culture

Maintaining an effective communication network within and across the care group promoting new ideas and initiatives

To develop within the team a culture of patient/career involvement

Abide by the legal requirements and statutory codes/rules relating to good practice

Demonstrate commitment to IWL principles and flexible working patterns, to meet the needs of the service and staff

Tackle discrimination and harassment, and promote equality and diversity in the workplace

Reduce sickness absence; work place accidents; and promote zero tolerance on violence against staff

Take responsibility for personal development and education and the development of a Personal Development Plan.

Carry out regular appraisals for staff, ensuring business goals are clearly communicated and linked to objectives

Review training and development of all staff, so all staff have a personal development plan, and support staff in reaching their full potential as identified through the appraisal process
