Location: North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust
Salary: AfC B7
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage undergraduate medical education programs
- Lead the team to deliver the service
- Liaise with universities and other educational institutions (Newcastle and Sunderland Universities)
- Support and mentor undergraduate students
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
Requirements:
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Experience in management in a medical educational or healthcare setting preferred
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure
- A proactive approach to problem-solving

In conjunction with the Director of Medical Education (DME), Director of Undergraduate Medical Education (DUME), Director of Undergraduate Clinical Studies (DUCS) and Head of Culture, Leadership, Education and Development, the post holder is responsible for the provision of undergraduate medical education services across the Trust including the planning, delivery and evaluation of teaching and learning activities, training programmes for medical students and physician associate students. The post will be accountable to the LEP’s, trust board and Universities for the quality of undergraduate medical education including assessment delivered by the LEP to medical students.
The post holder will provide senior management support for the undergraduate clinical educators, teaching fellows, administrative staff and wider undergraduate faculty to develop, manage and deliver a range of high quality and cost effective undergraduate medical education services within the Trust to meet the expected standards set out by NHS England, the General Medical Council and medical schools.

The post holder will have substantial knowledge of supporting educational programmes and services at undergraduate level and be able to provide specialist knowledge, advice and guidance on undergraduate medical education matters for all staff groups in the Trust.
The post holder will have full line management responsibility of undergraduate clinical educators and undergraduate administration lead and have financial management responsibilities associated with undergraduate SIFT budget, business planning and service development.
Clinically, the post holder is required to keep up to date with clinical teacher status in order to deliver teaching to medical students including clinical skills. The post holder is expected to gain examiner status and undertake formal examiner duties for both universities. The post holder will be able to teach, facilitate the teaching of or examine medical students of either university as appropriate.
With a substantial increase in student numbers, the post holder must ensure that it is possible to deliver two different curricula (both clinically and classroom based) seamlessly with staff working harmoniously to maintain excellent stands in student experience and feedback.
