With a budget of around £365m, three hospitals and 5,500 staff, North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital-based services to the population of Hartlepool, Stockton on Tees and parts of East Durham and Sedgefield as well as community, therapeutic and screening to a wider population across Durham and Teesside.
Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to offer a Band 5 Paediatric staff nurse role within Paediatric Outpatient services.
The paediatric service adopts a holistic approach to care and quality improvement. Patient safety and service improvement is at the forefront of our philosophy and we seek to recruit nurses who are motivated, promote high standards of patient care and work effectively as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
The paediatric children’s nursing team consists of a range of staff nurses, advanced nurse practitioners and specialist nurses including diabetes, gastroenterology, neuro-disability, Epilepsy, Respiratory and continence. The post holder will work collaboratively with members of the multi-disciplinary team across community and secondary care settings and utilising a family centred approach to care.
Within the service we have a special care baby unit which consists of 11 cots
Children’s and young person inpatient ward, including assessment/elective unit
Children’s and young person’s emergency department.

Main duties of the job
In addition to supporting clinics delivered by Consultants, Nurse Specialists and a range of other professionals from Paediatrics and other care groups, you'll be performing/supporting a wide range of clinical investigations/procedures, including:
Paediatric phlebotomy (for secondary care and all GP surgeries in the Stockton and Hartlepool area)
You will be expected to-
Assess, deliver and evaluate planned programmes of care to meet the patient's health needs and general well-being during nurse led clinics.
Establish and maintain effective communication with individuals and groups overcoming any problems in communication.
Contribute to the development of services.
Must work well with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure patients have a safe and effective journey throughout the service.
Will play a key role in the supervision and assessment of pre and post basic learners and unregistered staff providing a teaching role and acting as named supervisor.
Promote people's equality, diversity and rights.
Maintain and support the efficient use of physical and /or financial resources.
