Main duties of the job

Are you looking to start your physiotherapy career,  keen to develop new skills working in a community setting or wanting to return to practice?  We are looking for skilled, enthusiastic, highly motivated Band 5 Physiotherapists to join our well established Brighton and Hove/ East Sussex community rotation. Candidates must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 

In this role you will be involved in:

  • Delivering high quality, individualised, evidenced-based care to all patients
  • Learning, developing and adapting to change evidenced in continuing professional development (CPD)
  • Operating in a team and contributing to team decisions
  • Managing your own caseload 
  • Teaching patients, carers and peers
  • Maintaining accurate records in line with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy's standards

During each six month rotation you will be supported by Band 7 and Band 6 colleagues with a comprehensive range of in-service training to meet your learning needs.

Rotations include:

  • Community Neuro Rehabilitation
  • Falls and Osteoporosis 
  • Community Respiratory
  • Amputee Rehabilitation
  • Community Therapy hubs
  • Inpatient rehabilitation units
  • Urgent Community Response

A driving license is  required, as you will need to travel across sites and work in the community.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

a) To work as a therapist within a team or as part of a rotation in Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust.
b) To manage a caseload of patients with a variety of conditions.
c) To formulate and deliver an individual treatment programme based on a
sound knowledge of evidence-based practice and treatment options using
clinical assessment and reasoning skills.
d) To treat all patients with respect and courtesy, maintaining dignity and
respecting individual needs and differences, both physical and cultural.
e) To complete the SCFT Preceptorship programme through regular
supervision and professional support (staff in their first year post qualification).
f) To be involved in the support of Band 2, 3 and 4 staff as well as student
education.
g) To take part in and contribute to in-service training and keep your own
Personal Development plans up to date.

qualifications & registration

Essential criteria
  • Degree in physiotherapy or Equivalent
  • Physiotherapy HCPC Registration
  • Member of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Completed a Broad Range of student placements
  • Evidence of practical Continued Professional Development
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of NHS placements/experience

Skills & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Good evidence of understanding of EBP
  • Broad understanding of NHS/healthcare community
  • Able to demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to demonstrate a good level of clinical knowledge and reasoning
  • Able to demonstrate good time management and prioritisation skills
  • Good standard of English
  • Own transport and current/valid driving licence
Desirable criteria
  • Basic understanding of Audit/service improvement
