Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Superintendent Radiographer for professional development to support the Radiology Department at the RSCH, RACH,PRH and Hove polyclinic sites of  University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.

The post holder will lead on Professional development at these sites

They will further support the wider department as part of the management team.  

The post holder is required to be a highly skilled clinical Radiographer with strong leadership and communication skills.  

Main duties of the job

  • To work as part of the Imaging Department Senior Management team 

  • Maintain an overview of the radiographer workforce to include staffing numbers, recruitment and retention, roles and role development, training and development and input to workforce planning.  

  • Administers induction of new appointees and leads departmental orientation plans for all staff, including preceptorship of new graduates in Radiography. Responsible for the development and maintenance of a staff induction procedure for all staff including temporary and agency staff in line with trust policy. 

  • Responsible for developing, maintaining, and delivering a preceptorship programme, preceptorship is a system that provides support and clear learning objectives to be used by all newly qualified radiographers to ensure that their clinical experience is developed to provide clear career progression. Responsible for identifying and training preceptors within the department to enable them to act as a preceptor. Responsible for overseeing the preceptorship programme to ensure that it is delivered fairly, and progression occurs.

  • RADIOGRAPHY BSC(Hons) or equivalent
  • HCPC registered
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of post graduate qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive operational experience in X-Ray
  • Extensive experience developing services / change management

People Management

Essential criteria
  • previous experience of managing a clinical service
  • significant experience managing teams, recruitment and other HR processes

Communication

Essential criteria
  • Proven track record as a leader and professional role model
  • Effective communication with the ability to influence change
