Main duties of the job

To provide an effective day-to-day clerical support to facilitate the smooth running of the Endoscopy admissions services on a day-to-day basis using both own initiative as well as direction from supervision of senior colleagues. This job role covers: data entry to facilitate patient procedure and outpatient appointment booking and management of waiting lists

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To provide a quality Endoscopy Service within the University Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust by ensuring the most effective use of resources and meeting Joint Advisory Group (JAG) accreditation standards. The administration support sits in two units within Worthing and St Richard’s Hospitals; therefore the admin staff are expected to work within both units as cross cover when staffing needs require.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE English or NVQ equivalent
  • General education

Knowledge and experience.

Essential criteria
  • Previous 12 months clerical experience in a relevant role.
  • 12 months experience of working in a call centre/booking office with waiting list management
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Previous Nhs experience.

Communication and Relationship

Essential criteria
  • Good interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Communication and telephone skills

Analytical and Judgmental

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work on own initiative

Planning and Organisational

Essential criteria
  • The ability to manage waiting lists; exercising skills in prioritising against waiting list targets and requirements.
  • The ability to talk to members of staff at all levels
  • Good organisational and planning skills.
  • Time management skills and ability to organise and prioritise own workload with conflicting priorities
