Band 5 Application Support Analyst, IM&T, 37.5hours per week, Permanent

This important work involves configuring/amending information and supporting Trust staff on a multitude of the Trust IT systems, in particular the Trust's Patient Administration System; advising users over the telephone and supporting upgrades and changes to these systems. Other systems they will need to support include Patientrack, Electronic Document Management System (Evolve), Careflow Connect, G2 Digital Dictation, Blue Prism RPA and the ITU System.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, methodical, has an eye for detail and can work to tight schedules. Candidates with prior knowledge of at least one of these systems will have a distinct advantage.

The successful applicant must be flexible, able to work under pressure, will be based at either Chichester or Worthing, but must be willing to travel to the alternative sites on occasions.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Responsible for the administration and integrity checks of all the above systems operational within the Trust.

Provide technical support for all the above systems to all users of these systems ensuring that all incidents or tasks raised for assistance or support are completed promptly and to a high standard.

Participate in the testing, configuration, training and support of all new releases of the above software.

Add and modify the configuration of any of the above systems for the benefit of the Trust (i.e. adding new locations, business units) in accordance with the requirements of the Trust.

Provide 1st and 2nd line support for all the above systems within the local Health Community (WSHT, GP Surgeries, and Hospices).

Identify and escalate unresolved issues to the Supplier of the above systems, promptly, ensuring all relevant information is included.

Assist other members of the team in resolving problems and queries, depending on area of expertise, to ease workload pressures.

Responsible for organising own workload daily, ensuring all priority work is progressed or escalated quickly and efficiently.

Work closely with all relevant teams to ensure all work is progressed effectively. These teams include IT Technical Support, GP Surgeries, System Suppliers, and Operational Teams.

Work closely with all systems administrators that have an interface with any of the above systems, i.e. MIS, JAC, PACS, RIS, Office Automation etc

Work with System Trainers on common issues to help improve Training and user knowledge.

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent Computing qualification at GNVQ, BTEC, EDCL etc or equivalent experience.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • 3 years experience of using patient or customer focused IT based information systems 3 years experience of working in a clinical support team Monitoring data quality and resolving problems Understanding of customer/user issues and how they impact on the use of IT Systems Data quality standards applicable to the data and processes being supported
Desirable criteria
  • 5 years Experience of Careflow or other Hospital PAS System 5 years experience of working in a healthcare environment Experience of supporting and administrating systems administration, e.g. setting up user accounts, advising/showing how work is submitted Monitoring data quality and resolving problems. Understanding of issues affecting clinical and administrative services of an Acute Trust Understanding the Security and IG Issues surrounding a PAS

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of users – needing to convey sometimes complicated information via phone, email or in person. Ability to guide users through the system where appropriate – informal training over the telephone. Able to communicate technical issues to non technical staff
  • Ability to identify errors and omissions from complex reports and know if they are IT or user related To be able to progress issues via the most appropriate route
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines. Ability to manage own workload within the deadlines to ensure effective use of the relevant IT Systems.
  • Ability to Configure IT systems to a high degree of accuracy and completeness.
