At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.

In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.

Are you looking to kickstart your career in the NHS?  We are looking for an admin assistant for our Maxillofacial department to support the clinical secretarial team.  As a Secretarial Administrative Assistant, you will play a vital part within a team who are dedicated to providing support for clinicians & patients.

If you have a good level of general education including GCSE English & Maths, a willingness to learn and support your team and a desire to develop your potential, then we would like to hear from you.  You should be IT literate with good keyboard skills & have excellent written communication & spelling skills.  You do NOT need to have secretarial experience

Main duties of the job

The main duty of the job is proof reading and editing clinical correspondence which has been transcribed by speech recognition software.  Additional duties may include post runs, scanning, answering phone calls and general admin duties.   

It is essential that you are able to demonstrate good interpersonal, verbal and written skills and have a "can do" attitude. You will have a good level of IT literacy as you will be using multiple software packages.

  • GCSE level A-C including English and Maths
  • NVQ2 administration / data processing or equivalent level of knowledge and skills
  • Typing / text processing / data entry skills to RSAII or equivalent
