Job overview

Are you a highly motivated Physiotherapist with an interest in Stroke?

We are looking for a static Band 6 Physiotherapist for the acute stroke physiotherapy team at Eastbourne District General Hospital (EDGH) to work alongside the Team leads in supporting the acute stroke team.

Main duties of the job

With the support of the Team leads, you will be responsible for managing the caseload for the specialist Physiotherapy Service at the Acute Stroke Unit at EDGH alongside an extremely dedicated team.

You will work closely with Allied Health Professional Leads, nursing, medical and managerial team leads, in the operational and strategic development of the Integrated Stroke Pathway.

You will need to be flexible in your approach, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to manage a complex clinical caseload.

The Acute Stroke team are supported by an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, a Service Manager and a Professional Lead Physiotherapist. We are actively committed to continuing professional development through clinical supervision, specialist Neuro teaching and training.

You will be responsible for supporting with the induction, training and  supervision of rotational band 5 and and non-registered clinicians within the team

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • A BSc in Physiotherapy/post grad MSc Physiotherapy
  • Health Professions Council Registered Member of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
  • Post-graduate qualification or proven equivalent experience / training in a relevant field
Desirable criteria
  • Post graduate qualifications in a relevant topic

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Full range of undergraduate placements
  • Post- graduate experience within an acute hospital environment
  • Experience of supporting other staff/ assistants
Desirable criteria
  • Experience as a band 6 physiotherapist
  • Experience within ITU/ Critical Care
  • Completion of core rotations (including orthopaedics, MSK, neurology and respiratory)

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Confident with core physiotherapy skills
  • Will have the ability to carry out physiotherapy assessment and intervention incorporating manual physiotherapy
  • Experience supervising assistants and students
