Our two acute hospitals have emergency departments and provide 24 hour a day care, offering a comprehensive range of surgical, medical, outpatient and maternity services, supported by a full range of diagnostic and therapy services. Our centre for trauma services and obstetrics is at Conquest Hospital, while our centre for urology and stroke services is at Eastbourne DGH. At Bexhill Hospital we offer a range of outpatient, day surgery, rehabilitation and intermediate care services. At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.
In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.
Job overview
· This is a replacement post for a LED doctor to Medicine rotational posts in East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.
· The appointee will be based at Eastbourne District General Hospital, but this may change depending on service need.
- · Inpatient commitment for both Rheumatology and GIM
- · Acute medical takes, weekend discharge role to be discussed separately after successful interviews
- · Supervising FY 2 and FY1, medical students
- · Quality improvement projects and taking part in departmental training and teaching activities
Fixed term contract is until 31st July 2025 only.
Main duties of the job
- Assisting ward rounds with consultants and reg to have a management plan for each GIM and Rheumatology patients including a provisional discharge date.
- Completing promptly discharges letters and make sure appropriate referrals are done as a part of patient future care which includes OPD.
- Chase other department referrals , complete blood test , forms and liaise with pharmacy and pathology as when required daily.
- Present cases with updates on a daily basis at board round and meet the patient next of kin as when required.
- Work with MDT (OT, PT, pharmacy , nursing team, ASC ) to manage patient care effectively during the time of patients inpatient stay.
