At Bexhill Hospital we offer a range of outpatient, day surgery, rehabilitation and intermediate care services. At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.

In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.

 

Job overview

Are you a qualified Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) eager to specialise in managing swallowing difficulties and developing your leadership skills in an acute inpatient setting? We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dynamic East Sussex Speech & Language Therapy service. This position is available as a Band 6 post or as a Band 6 Development post (starting at 70% of the Band 6 entry point under Annex U).

Main duties of the job

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Speech and Language Therapist who has completed their NQP competencies (ideally with post-basic dysphagia training) and is looking for their next step. This role will allow you to:

Work alongside highly specialist SLTs and assistants in community services, including rehabilitation, voice, head & neck cancer, stroke, critical care, and neurological degenerative conditions.

Gain experience in MDT working and rehabilitation across various clinical settings.

Contribute to service improvement and innovative research projects, with time set aside in your job plan for development and collaboration.

Engage in student education through our partnerships with higher education institutions, including pioneering virtual clinics using 360° cameras.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent
  • Health Care Professions Council – Licence to Practice
  • Registered Member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
  • Completion of RCSLT NQP competencies
Desirable criteria
  • Completion of specialist short courses in communication disorders/AAC
  • Dysphagia trained, meeting the specialist level C RCSLT dysphagia competency framework
