At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.
In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.
Job overview
An opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Registered staff nurse, ideally with current or previous outpatient experience and experience across a broad range of medical and surgical specialities or a willingness to learn and develop a broad range of skills. These will include assisting in dermatology skin surgery clinics, running nurse led venesection clinics and undertaking wound dressings in the vascular surgery clinics.
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 5 Staff Nurse who will be required to work across all the medical specialities and five of the surgical specialities in our very busy General Outpatient departments at Eastbourne District General Hospital.
The successful candidate will be able to work effectively as part of a team and manage the pressure of working in a very busy environment.
Post holders will work closely with medical and admin staff, to provide a safe, caring and efficient service for our patients.
You will be an excellent communicator, have a positive personality and a mature and professional approach to your work.
It is essential for the candidate to have good computer skills. The experience of co-ordinating and supervising a team in a busy department/ward would also be an advantage.
The applicant must be able to deal with the public in a sensitive and polite manner, and be flexible in their approach to duties of work.

To participate within the multi-disciplinary team in delivering
appropriate safe patient care in a timely fashion working towards
the role of Team Leader providing clinical expertise ensuring the
delivery of appropriate safe patient care.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Evidence of diploma level / degree level study
- Registered General Nurse on the NMC register
- Evidence of continual professional development
Desirable criteria
- Additional Nursing Qualifications i.e A1/NVQ Assessor award /mentorship
Experience
Essential criteria
- Recent experience within the NHS or similar organisation
- Generic pre-registration experience in an acute care setting
- Knowledge of quality, audit and research
- Ability to manage a clinical case load
- Demonstrate an up-to-date skills inventory to include Basic Life Support, drug calculation and use of infusion equipment
Desirable criteria
- Experience within specialities relevant to General Outpatient caseload
- Experience of working in a hospital environment
