In the summer of 2020, the Trust launched its ambitious ‘Building for our Future’ (BFF) programme. This once in a lifetime programme aims to redevelop and expand our hospitals at Eastbourne, Hastings and Bexhill, transforming the environment in which we provide care for generations to come.

Our centre for trauma services and obstetrics is at Conquest Hospital, while our centre for urology and stroke services is at Eastbourne DGH. At Bexhill Hospital we offer a range of outpatient, day surgery, rehabilitation and intermediate care services. At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.

In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.

 

Job overview

We are looking for qualified Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) to join our team at Eastbourne District General Hospital in East Sussex.  Applicants must have experience or qualifications in anaesthetics to apply for this post. 

We carry out a wide range of surgery including General Surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, Gynae, Urology, Breast services and Trauma/CEPOD as well as performing surgery and anaesthetics in satellite areas.

If you are flexible, have a great sense of humour, excellent interpersonal skills then we would like to hear from you.

Rotation to nights, weekends and out of hours are expected.

Main duties of the job

To support the Department Deputy Leads and Matrons in maintaining an efficient and effective service delivering safe patient care within an environment that promotes a responsive approach to changing healthcare needs.

Provides care to patients in the Peri-operative/Day Surgery/Theatre/PACU setting.

Cares for patients compassionately with dignity and respect, acknowledging them as individuals.
