At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.

In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.

 

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Registered Nursing Associate to join our nursing team based at the Conquest Hospital.

The position will be based in our 62 bedded Trauma & Orthopaedic Unit providing 24 hour care. We strive to care within a multi-professional supportive team. We are looking for a person who has excellent interpersonal skills and is willing to learn, to join our friendly team. 

The post holder will have the opportunity to enhance their basic skills and would be expected to work within a multidisciplinary team. 

Main duties of the job

Undertake assessment of admissions as allocated by nurse in charge.

To work independently within the clearly defined boundaries of the Registered Nursing Associate  competencies and scope of practice

Work with Registered Practitioners in the provision of nursing care for patients in the Surgical Assessment Unit

To carry out clinical tasks through admission to discharge in a safe effective manner.

Qualifications / Training

Essential criteria
  • Foundation Degree Assistant Practitioner
Desirable criteria
  • Further education and training related to orthopaedic nursing

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum two years working as Level 3 NVQ within surgery.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience working in other disciplines within health

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Essential criteria
  • An understanding of the effects of illness or injury on physical, psychological and social function.
Desirable criteria
  • Has the ability to react calmly and decisively in an emergency.
