At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.

In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.

 

Job overview

We are offering you an exciting opportunity to join our Medicines Management team at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. We are actively seeking a reliable, conscientious, self-motivated individual who has a positive, forward thinking attitude to work as a part of the Clinical pharmacy Team based at Eastbourne District General Hospital. You will have to demonstrate self-confidence, have a reliable work history and possess mature interpersonal skills.

The Pharmacy Department provides a service to a wide range of patients with diverse needs across a range of specialities. We operate a comprehensive ward based, patient facing clinical service backed by innovative technology. You would become a valued member of the team providing this essential service and in return you will receive full training and support to facilitate your career development

We are looking for a pharmacy assistant to work closely with our team of Pharmacy Technicians at ward level. You will need to possess at least one GPhC recognised qualification in pharmacy practice at level 2. Hospital experience would be an advantage but not essential. Full training and support will be given in accordance with our Education and Training Strategy.

This will consist of weekend and bank holiday working as per rota which will change with the development of the 7 day pharmacy service.

Main duties of the job

To support the pharmacy team in providing an efficient and high quality service to patients and service users of the Trust by actively participating in the organisation and co-ordination of the dispensing, medicines supply, stores and distribution and safe storage of medicines in support of the clinical pharmacy service. Essential criteria
  • NVQ level 2
  • Good general education
  • Evidence of relevant CPD to NVQ3 level or proven equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • Recognised pharmacy NVQ 3

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous retail or hospital Pharmacy experience at a dispensing standard
  • Knowledge of legislation affecting pharmacy practice
  • Basic Pharmaceutical knowledge on actions and uses of medicines
  • Stock Control Experience
