Job overview

East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, Hastings/Eastbourne

Rotational band 6 with potential for progression to band 7 and multisector opportunities

Are you currently a trainee pharmacist, a registered pharmacist returning to practice or even considering a change of sectors?

We are seeking pharmacists with a passion for clinical pharmacy and patient centred care aiming to build their clinical skills and work closely across sectors with clinicians in East Sussex.

Development of a band 6 to 7 progression pathway is a departmental priority and opportunities to experience multiple rotations, including any possibilities as they arise with multi-sector partner organisations within the local Integrated Care System, will support progression of your pharmacy career through post-registration Foundation towards advanced level practice.

There will be  supported opportunities for personal and professional development including completion of the Newly Qualified Pharmacist Pathway, access to a funded post-graduate clinical certificate in pharmacy practice and future support with gaining an Independent Prescribing qualification.

This post could be based at either of our two hospital sites namely Eastbourne District General Hospital or Conquest Hospital in Hastings.

Main duties of the job

The post includes rotations in surgical and medical areas with the potential for cancer services and a mental health rotation within Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.  Experience within these areas will build key clinical skills and provide an opportunity to develop into a confident practitioner   with the support of an experienced pharmacy team.

Under the supervision of our specialist Independent Prescribing Pharmacists, you will work closely with consultants, other medical staff, nurses and pharmacy staff in ensuring that medicine use is safe, rational, effective and evidence based

The post holder will provide a clinical pharmacy service to a group of wards on a rotational basis and support the dispensary in providing an efficient and timely service. The applicant will also need to join the department weekend and on-call service on a rota basis following a period of orientation and induction. The successful candidate will be a Practice Supervisor for Trainee Pharmacists and Pharmacy undergraduates.
