Our extensive health services are provided by over 7,000 dedicated members of staff working from two acute hospitals in Hastings and Eastbourne, three community hospitals in Bexhill, Rye and Uckfield, over 100 community sites across East Sussex, and in people’s own homes.
In 2020 the Care Quality Commission (CQC) rated us as ‘Good’ overall, and ‘Outstanding’ for being Caring and Effective. The Conquest Hospital in Hastings and our Community Services were rated ‘Outstanding’ and Eastbourne DGH was rated ‘Good’ Our two acute hospitals have Emergency Departments and provide 24 hour a day care, offering a comprehensive range of surgical, medical, outpatient and maternity services, supported by a full range of diagnostic and therapy services.
In the summer of 2020, the Trust launched its ambitious ‘Building for our Future’ (BFF) programme. This once in a lifetime programme aims to redevelop and expand our hospitals at Eastbourne, Hastings and Bexhill, transforming the environment in which we provide care for generations to come.

At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.
In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.

Are you looking for a leadership development opportunity or a new challenge? An opportunity has arisen for suitable applicants to apply for the post of Service Manager within the Community Health and Integrated Care Division, within the Planned Care Therapies sub-division.
The Service Manager is an integral part of the overall Divisional management structure and will support the General Manager and lead on operational management of community rehabilitation services within the Community Health and Integrated Care Division.
The successful applicant will work closely with the General Manager to support the development of the community rehabilitation services, including performance, management of day to day service issues, and progression with service transformation workstreams.
This is a full time post, however flexible working requests will be considered.

Main duties of the job
Provide operational support to the General Manager to include day to day operational duties as well as service transformation initiatives.
Coordinate effectively to ensure safe and effective operational delivery of the service, delegating responsibilities as appropriate. The post holder will manage processes by using initiative in the absence of senior managers to ensure any concerns or issues are appropriately managed.
Plan and organise operational functions within the service to deliver efficient structures and processes to meet service targets, whilst demonstrating appropriate influencing skills with supporting departments to ensure the needs of the service are met, including coordination of internal and external activities and escalation as appropriate to the senior leadership team.

Qualifications

- Educated to degree level or proven equivalent experience, skills and knowledge demonstrable
- Recognised leadership / management qualification or equivalent training and experience
- Budget management qualification or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
- Evidence of ongoing relevant professional training and development to Masters level or equivalent level of knowledge and experience

- Professional healthcare qualification, with current registration
- Additional qualifications relevant to CU
- ECDL or alternative recognised IT qualification
Experience

- A broad range of in-depth clinical and/or managerial experience at a senior level in NHS or a similar large complex organisation
- Demonstrates an ability to critically analyse, problem solve and prioritise. Experience of effective management of health care services
- Evidence of service delivery and of holding others to account
- Proven experience of staff management
- Experience of managing budgets

- Experience of undertaking service improvement audit
- Previous experience of project management
