Job overview

University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting for its busy Urology Service. This role will be part of the friendly and dynamic Urology administration team within the Princess Royal Hospital.  The post is for an Outpatient  Booking Clerk for the Service’s elective outpatient and Cancer care.  The overall aim of the role is to improve the efficiency of the service and the quality of the patient experience.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for experienced Booking Clerk to assist the Service Manager and Patient Access Manager (PAM) to deliver a gold standard booking service for our patients and a gold standard clinical administration service for our clinical teams. Full training will be provided as well as support from colleagues at our Princess Royal Hospital site where the Service is run from, with additional support from the Central Booking Hub which is run from Brighton near our Royal Sussex County Hospital.

You will have experience of working in a high volume patient / customer contact centre, ideally in an acute hospital environment.

The responsibilities of the role will range from the registration of new patients, handling GP and patient queries for clinics, making appointments, such as full and partially booked appointment, using Trust systems.

Main duties will be answering telephone calls from patients or GPs wishing to make or change appointments or making general enquiries as well as contacting patients directly to arrange and book their appointments.  You will be required to work within a team to deliver an improved service for patients and to maximise efficiency.
