The Children’s Speech and Language Therapy team in Central (Crawley, Horsham and Mid Sussex) are seeking a therapist who is ready to build on their previous B5/6 experience in schools and Specialist Support Centres (SSC) and are eager to make a positive contribution to our hardworking, supportive and friendly team.

We have an exciting opportunity to work in a specialist support centre for speech and language needs providing assessment and therapy to the children who access the unit (0.3 wte). This job is currently dovetailed with sessions in the mainstream service (0.7 wte) creating a fantastic full-time job working with school aged children. The sessions in the SSC enable a therapist to provide specialist evidence based therapy and is a great setting for developing specialist clinical skills in DLD and speech sounds disorders.

You will work as part of a supportive and friendly team to:

• Assess children’s speech language and communication needs (SLCN) and the 
  functional impact of these
• Advise families and settings on how they can help reduce this impact and 
  facilitate communication skills
• Provide individual or group therapy, demonstrating to parents/carers and setting 
  staff how they can use strategies and techniques
• Train parents/carers and setting staff so that they are empowered to identify and 
  manage their child’s needs.
• Write Reports and Intervention Plans, sharing information and setting targets 
  with parents/carers and setting staff
• Measure the success of your actions and report your outcomes through outcome 
  measures; 
• Maintain your clinical and professional development to be the best therapist you 
  can be and progress in your career
• Be part of clinical networks to ensure practice is evidence based and current. 
• Use System One electronic notes
• Attend and contribute to Team and Locality Meetings
• Access, and provide, supervision
• Attend training and disseminate information
• Maintain a CPD log
• Contribute data.
